There was a little informal meeting tonight regarding plans for Mardi Gras. In a nutshell, it looks as though we have a parade and a ball in the offing, and possibly a treasure hunt as well. The parade will probably happen the weekend before the 24th.
We need:
* floats
* a parade system and someone to manage it
* stuff to throw
* a dance pavilion
* participation by shopkeepers (esp. for a treasure hunt)
* set times—and soon, for promo
* to get the word out to other regions that might like to participate with floats
Ok, I'm up for it all.
I have a big dark Carnival, more vintage carnie than garish complete with curios and doll boxes etc etc. I put some out but alas it's to big to go on my land. In it's entirety it's about 2000 prims. I was thinking maybe I could put it in the sky for the parade with a tp. I have empty tents so we could all put a few vends in there, give some freebies etc. I wonder Ms Riel would this be ok with you, it would be over some public land.
Also I have a bead emitter and king cake which are both copy, I am willing to donate prizes also
Miss Louhi, let's meet and talk logistics! I would be more than happy to have you set it all up on public land, provided that we allow for the parade route!
The queen of the Krewe of Bast has imperiously declared that the parade shall take place from noon to 1:00 PM SLT on Sunday, February 22. The ball will be from 2:00 to 4:00 the same day.
Actually, that lot is occupied as of today, by my friend Carter Denja. (Everybody say hi!)
We're going with driveable floats and wearable horse teams instead of a system. It will be a smallish but mighty parade.
Perhaps instead of pocketing Sucre Bleu, it could be a venue for the hour between the parade and the ball? Or even for something later that evening? It'd sure be nice to have more events throughout the day.
Please refer folks to this page for continuing updates on Mardi Gras festivities, including the treasure hunt. And if you have anything to add, please contact me. (Inworld is best!)
