New Toulouse

Les Gens de New Toulouse

I was visiting the town cemetery last night to check there had been no more vandalism (I’d noticed one of the plots had been broken into and the entrance left wide open earlier in the day) and I happened upon a rather odd looking individual.
He said he was a detective with an office in town and was staking out the cemetery.
Anyway I told him about the tomb and warned him about the ‘gators (the fool was sitting on the bank by the water and he wouldn’t be the first to be grabbed by one).
He was already looking a bit shaken and I’m not sure if he hadn’t been drinking. Mind you there’s plenty in the swamp to give anyone the creeps.

I dropped by the cemetery again this morning on the way to work and there was no sign of him.
I happened to mention this to Miss Connolly and the pair of us returned to see if we could find out what he’d been up to.
On searching the area we noticed one of the monuments looked rather queer, sort of vaguely transparent and odd to the touch. It happened to be near the back close to the tree where the “detective” had been hanging around. On closer inspection the stonework seemed to “give” under pressure and Miss Connolly was able to push part of her arm inside, but it seems it’s impossible to get any further. Neither of us was able to see inside properly and could find no entrance as such. At this point Miss Connolly produced a Tommy gun (no idea where she’d been hiding it!) and emptied a full clip into the tomb. The bullets went clean through!
Not knowing what to do next we stopped by the gumshoe’s office but there was no sign of him other than an empty flask on his desk.

So there you have it. There’s definitely something fishy going on at the cemetery and I’d advise you not to go there alone at night.
Me? Well I’ve dug my old revolver out and I’m keeping my shotgun in the car.

In regards the strange tomb at the cemetery....

I felt I chill down my spine as my arm disappeared inside that tomb. Indeed a frightening moment, Mr Fanshaw.

I suggest all citizens keep a watchful eye and a listening ear. Be alert!... and those with delicate hearts should steer clear unless accompanied by kith or kin. Do NOT go alone!

Well, maybe we should get a Mambo or Houngan to look into it.
Then again, during my travels across the Second Seas, I have learned that there are things that are better left undisturbed, things that can eternal lie.

Apart from my trusted .455 Webley, I will keep my machete with me, when passing by. Speaking of which, if anyone would like to have a Taloo machete, just give me le holler and I send one over.

I fear your weapons of leaden projectiles would do you no good. You're best off heeding Mr. Trenton's suggestion of finding a houngan or a mambo. I do have a dear friend who is a Santeria priestess whom I could have take look.

I go by the cemetery quite often, and I've noticed that quite a few of the tombs have been left wide open a couple mornings running now. At the very least, it's quite disrespectful.

I've been shutting them as well each time I pass. Maybe we need to fit springs on the hinges

If one turns off the script on the tomb-the door can not be opened--by earthly means......

I also make certain to shut any open ones; it promotes respect and tidiness.

A friend of mine has lost a tiny bow of teal ribbon in the cemetery. Should anybody run across it, please let me know. It is very dear to her for sentimental reasons. But I fear it has been lost to the wind or even worse, trampled into the mud.

The strange tomb in the corner of the cemetery seems to be looking rather more substantial of late. However I noticed that there have been signs of digging in the vicinity. I wonder if our local gumshoe has seen anything odd?
