New Toulouse

Les Gens de New Toulouse

I know that we’ve all been so busy settling in to New Toulouse, meeting the neighbors, finding good bootleggers for likker, and so forth that no one’s been here in the Forum much. But let me take this opportunity to thank Mama Cree for her amazing vision and spirit and hard work and oomph to bring this wonderful spot to reality. (OK, virtual reality.)

I brought a friend over on opening night. Like my RL person, he has deep roots in New Orleans. Though it was late for both of us, I dragged him over to Shotgun Row. He told me that he had tears in his eyes, so much did those few square meters of the metaverse remind him of the Ninth Ward neighborhood where his mama grew up.

The buildings, the people, the spirit of closeness and community, the whiff of decadence in the air, the comfortable feeling of being haunted by the spirits of those we love but see no more....

For all these and so much more, merci, Mama Cree.

I finally signed up just to second Mr Woodget's motion: three - possibly four - cheers!

New Orleans is one of three places in the US I've always wanted to visit: it's the only one I haven't yet. My only exposure to the city is in the second hand travel tales of grandparents, bad television programmes, and, er, a creaky old PC adventure (the first Gabriel Knight, if anyone else remembers it and Tim Curry's...exuberant performance). But there's an undeniable Something about New Toulouse - something not quite the people, the places, the bits and the pixels, but all of them and a pinch of magic more - that makes for a happy halfway house in the meantime.

Like all the best places in SL, New Toulouse is not real - but, like a half-remembered dream on a bleary morning, feels like it might have been...that it could be.

Hip-hip and so forth!

I've made it the Shrievport and Baton Rouge, but have yet to get to New Orleans.
One of these days. One of these days.
On the other hand I've been fortunate enough to have seen the Preservation Hall Jazz Band on several occasions.

How about five? I am amazed and in awe everytime I come home, to see so much richness of detail in what Carricre has built, and pleased to meet my new neighbors. Already, I feel the spirit we share, and it is a lot like what I feel when I go home to New Orleans in RL. Let us lift our glasses, mugs, bottles, flasks, and whatever else we have to celebrate this new community!

P.S. For those of you who still need to see and feel the Real Thing to know what we are talking about, Jazz Fest is coming up! The last weekend in April and the first weekend in May are the traditional dates; go to the Times-Picayune website, nola.com and start your search there for accommodations and travel and the schedule of performers and events.

I'll give 5 or 6 cheers for Mama Cree! I'm having so much fun I'm rethinking some of my land-rights choices on other sims. I may scale back here and there to free up dollars for more land-rights in future Taloo sims.

That says an awful lot for this steampunk girl.

I am so happy to be in Taloo. Happiest I've been somewhere in SL in a long time. My neighbors are a lot of fun and Taloo itself is gorgeous. I'm most at home there because it feels so familiar and...warm, if you get me? Mama Cree, thank you so much for creating it and I look forward to all of the fun times that us Taloolans will share together.

Any number of cheers and I'll sure be joining in on each one of them!

New Orleans is one of the two cities in the US I always wanted to see. I saw the other, but this is yet on the list. Well, maybe some day I cross the pond again.

I think one of the great things about Taloo is that it draws from the best of the "dream that is New Orleans" and at the same time, having residents from across the globe and being set in a modified past, gives it a very unique and special flavour.
I feel relaxed, inspired here, and flying low above the roofs of our home is pure joy.

*inhales deeply* I can breathe here.. *cough cough* Ok, maybe not when EllisDee's still next door is running and the window is open.. and.. pheew.. is the wind coming from the swamp again? ;op

Thanks for a great time at le market place and see you around, amis!

*Gasp* I'm so happy you all love it here, it'd be a hollow place without you all.

I say, EIGHT cheers for all of you who are making it great!
